AcceLINX to Present Free Webinar:  Human Centered Design Strategies

AcceLINX, the musculoskeletal health business accelerator launched by OrthoWorx, will present a free webinar at 4 pm on December 5, 2018 to provide product developers and marketers important information regarding human centered design strategies for medical device products.

“One way for innovators to differentiate their products is by incorporating design principles that make their devices more intuitive to use and physically appealing,” said Sheryl Conley, President of AcceLINX.  “We’ve added an industrial design and human factors expert to our roster of consultants and we’re pleased to offer this opportunity for those involved in product development to better understand this discipline.”

The presenter for the webinar will be Phil Lindeman, an AcceLINX consultant and principal of Inherently Engaging Devices, LLC.  Mr. Lindeman has 30 years of new product development experience in consumer, commercial and medical device markets.  He has spent the last eight years heading up the Industrial Design + Human Factors (ID+HF) group for DePuy Synthes Joint Reconstruction and Power Tools.  While at DePuy Synthes, he chaired the Global Orthopedics ID+HF Community of Practice, which included human-centered designers from DePuy Synthes’ Trauma, Spine and Sports Medicine businesses.  Prior to serving in that role, he held leadership positions within Motorola and Whirlpool’s global consumer design studios.

Key topics to be covered for entrepreneurs during the webinar include the following:

  • Three rules for designing intuitive devices.
  • The top two human factors standards that all medical device manufacturers need to know.
  • Four ways to reduce the risk of human factors-related regulatory delays.
  • Employing industrial design for differentiation, appeal and brand recognition.

Mr. Lindeman holds a BFA in Industrial Design from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MBA from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Business.  He also holds 45 design and utility patents in the consumer electronics, home white goods and medical devices industries.
